The Piano Cottage is the in-person home of XinRu Piano — founded by concert pianist and educator Dr. XinRu Chen. It's where the Layered Piano Method™ comes to life, one student at a time, in a calm and encouraging environment in North London.

A real method, not guesswork. We don't follow a single published book. We teach the Layered Piano Method™ — a system XinRu developed over a decade of teaching both young beginners and advanced pianists — so progress feels natural and students rarely feel overwhelmed.
Original teaching materials. Beginners learn from books written by Dr. Chen herself, refined through hundreds of lessons and chosen for what children genuinely love to play.
A plan, and a practice plan. Before lessons begin we build a long- and mid-term plan around your goals. After every lesson, your child receives a daily practice plan with exact repetitions — no guesswork, just follow it and progress happens.
